The Ikenga Organisation is committed to fostering and empowering individuals entering the design and creative industries, particularly those from the African diaspora and non-traditional backgrounds. It is our mission to enhance inclusivity and accessibility in design and celebrate and disseminate knowledge in these fields.

Inspired by the remarkable achievements of creative professionals from the African diaspora, both historically and in the present, Ikenga aims to contribute to educational transformation through a dynamic approach encompassing research, exhibitions, mentoring, and collaboration with organizations promoting inclusiveness and diversity.

IKENGA   ORGANISATION

Innovative Knowledge and Education in the Narrative of Global Arts

OUR CREATIVE REACH

The reach of support organisations will often represent a specific field or profession but to achieve our aims we have adopted a broad church approach in recognising the important role that education plays in creating future career opportunities and better life chances.

Therefore the core team of Ikenga is primarily drawn from educators and practising creative professionals representing: architecture, interior design, fashion and textile design, film-making, photography, furniture and product design, graphic design, the visual arts, coaching and business consultancy.

For potential future creatives, this is an important factor in making visible diversity in both professions and people.
