Janet Lawrence is an independent filmmaker, writer and journalist. She has worked on a variety of projects from the award-winning documentary series Eyes on The Prize, the history of the Civil Rights Movement to drama to working in the BBC newsroom! She has worked for Channel 4, the BBC, Visnews (now Reuters) and American television. She writes scripts, articles and has edited The Gleaner (UK) Jamaica’s national newspaper.⠀

She has had a diverse career beginning with working as a Medical Scientific Officer, a teaching degree and finally film and television. She began her film career making a documentary for Channel 4, then working freelance on various projects. She has lived and worked in the USA and is currently producing and directing a documentary and other film and television projects. She has recently written about African Art and African Feminism.⠀⠀
