Professor Layton Reid is a passionate supporter of inclusivity and diversity as a transforming influence on education and opportunities and through design and creativity a benefit to society and a sustainable future. ⠀ ⠀

He is an architect, designer and academic, and as a practising architect is the founder of Desitecture his research-based practice whose work in polyculture and sustainable cities has been categorized as applied Morphogenetic Tectonics in its manifestations. The work considers and produces solutions for the design and construction of cities, using emerging technologies, materials and construction methods, reconsidering the city as a responsive participant in the development of societies. Often short-listed at the prestigious, annual World Architecture Festival Awards, in 2023 he won the WAFX Smart Cities Award for his project Diatom City: developing sustainable urban regeneration and social equity allied to polyculture.

He is now engaged in creating a new range of distinct degree courses in the subject where he has brought industry and societal aspirations to impact the development of these design subjects. Layton previously served as an Associate Dean for Architecture, Interior Design Environment Architecture and Urban Landscape Architecture, Student Experience and Engagement, International Liaison and Special Projects, creating one of the most diverse departments of Architecture in the UK.⠀

He is currently the Visiting Professor for Research and External Profile developing a new suite of architecture and design courses at the London School of Film, Media and Design.⠀
